I was very honored to be asked to create an arrangement in the Joseon white porcelain jar with its beautiful texture and appearance. And with joy, the first thing that came to mind was a lotus flower.

It was also the lotus season, so I thought it would be nice to create a lotus world like the joseon folk paintings I had seen up until then. On the day of the arrangement, I was lucky enough to see the white lotus flowers beginning to bloom, so I dug up some soil and brought the lotus roots with me, and placed them in a white porcelain vase…

The flowers and leaves gradually withered away due to the heat of the nighttime at the art club. However, I received warm feedback from TENPYODO, other vendors and customers, who said that this was also a beautiful sight, as it felt like watching a changing landscape and a world of simplicity. The people who can appreciate and understand this world are those involved in antique art and the tea ceremony. I am very grateful and it has saved my soul. From there, I created a living waterside world at the base of the lotus, striving to better convey the charm of the white porcelain jar along with the withering lotus. Although it was an unexpected accident, I was able to feel even more the warmth and generous charm of the white-porcelain jar, which embraces life, death, and flowers. I am truly grateful to Mr. and Mrs. TENPYODO for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
