1th Chikuunsai Tanabe 1877～1983
1th Chikuunsai Tanabe was born in Hyogo prefecture as the third son of Yoshitsune Tanabe.
Real name is Tuneo.

Studied bamboo art under the 1th Waichisai Wada in Osaka in 1890.
When became independent, Received another name “Chikuunsai” in 1901.
Moved to Sakai in 1910.
When the Emperor taisho went to Osaka prefecture, “Ryurikyo style bamboo flower baskets” were donated in 1914.
“Ryurikyo style bamboo flower basket” received the bronze award at the Exposition internationale des arts decoratifs et industriels modernes in 1925.
Established the Sakai art association in 1928.
Received the recommendation from the Sakai city to the Ministry of interior in 1932.
Studied flower arrangement under Shounsai Hattori of Sumiyoshi in Osaka, and succeeded the Shofu seizan style schoolmaster.
Sencha is the bamboo basket craftsman’s knowledge, and the Sencha of kagetsuan style has been handed down from Tominaga Jusen.
With many disciples and craftsmen, Exported to Germany and England and France.
Established position as the bamboo craftsman.
2th Chikuunsai Tanabe 1910～2000
2th Chikuunsai Tanabe was born in Osaka prefecture as the eldest son of 1th Chikuunsai Tanabe.
Real name is Sadao, and other names is Chikuunsai.
Studied bamboo art under father from an early age.
Received another name from “Small chikuunsai” from 1th in 1925.
Named 2th Chikuunsai Tanabe in 1937.
Received the Special asakura award at the Japan art exhibition in 1952.
Inaugurated as the director of the Kansai international art exhibition in 1953.
Received the Osaka prefecture art award in 1954.
Inaugurated as the judge of the Japan art exhibition in 1960.
Inaugurated as the judge of the Japanese contemporary craft art exhibition in 1962.
Inaugurated as the judge of the Japanese contemporary craft art exhibition in 1964.
Inaugurated as the judge of the Japan art exhibition in 1965.
Received the Medal for merit from Sakai city in 1973.
