清閑寺窯は旧伯爵・清閑寺家の許可を得て、
初代菊次郎によって創設されました。
初代 菊次郎 生没年不詳
2代 龍斎 生没年不詳
3代 杉田祥平 生年不詳～2000（平成12）年
4代 杉田祥平 1942（昭和17）年生
4代杉田祥平は京都に生まれました。
1965（昭和40）年、14代樂吉左衛門に師事しました。
裏千家15代鵬雲斎宗室より「清閑寺」印を授かりました。
1999（平成11）年、4代杉田祥平を襲名しました。
京焼の伝統技法を基本に仁清や古清水に通底する華美典麗な絵付けに、
現代的なデザイン感覚を加味して独自の作風を確立しています。
