寄付待合、腰掛、薄茶席に用意され、
莨盆との調和を考慮した亭主の力量を示す一端を担います。
陶磁器は唐物、和物、高麗物が中心となり、
稀に金属製の物も見られます。
香炉からの転用も多く、向付が用いられる事もあります。
