Chodo Tominaga
冨永朝堂
冨永朝堂 1897（明治30）年～1987（昭和62）年
冨永朝堂は指物屋（家具製造業）の子として福岡市下赤間町に生まれました。
本名を良三郎といいます。
1904（明治37）年、上田鉄耕画塾で日本画を学びました。
1915（大正4）年、山崎朝雲に師事しました。
伝統的木彫技術の指導を受け、「朝堂」の号を授かりました。
1932（昭和7）年、帝展で特選を受賞しました。
1933（昭和8）年、帝展で特選を受賞しました。
1936（昭和11）年、東海寺で参禅しました。
1937（昭和12）年、文展委員に就任しました。
1944（昭和19）年、太宰府市観世音寺にアトリエを構えて自由な創作活動を展開しました。
1950（昭和25）年、日展審査員に就任しました。
1958（昭和33）年、日展会員となりました。
1975（昭和50）年、西日本文化賞を受賞しました。
1976（昭和51）年、福岡市文化賞を受賞しました。
高村光雲、山崎朝雲に続いて近代日本木彫会の頂点に位置した重鎮です。
一木の真性を知り尽くした冴えわたる彫技と高逸な精神性に定評があり、
筑紫美術協会の創立を始め、太宰府地域の文化向上に大きな功績を残しました。
