万代屋宗安
万代屋宗安は万代屋了二の子として生まれました。
姓を渡辺、名を新太郎（後に宗安）、号を竹溪・一咄斎といいます。
豊臣秀吉の茶頭、御伽衆を務めました。
1577（天正5）年頃に千利休の娘を娶り、「竹溪宗安」と号しました。
1590（天正18）年の大徳寺金毛閣の寄進棟札銘にもその名が見えます。
利休の命で利休が石橋良叱に五百貫で売った大壺「面影」を千五百貫で買わされ、
これを利休は良叱の療養費に充てたという説話もあります。
1591（天正19）年には利休救解の為に「投頭巾」を秀吉に献上しようとしたともいわれ、
その後に献上しています。
利休没後は千宗旦の庇護に努めました。
大名物の唐物茶入「投頭巾」を始めとし、
葉茶壺「九重」、牧谿筆簡翁賛「布袋の絵」等を所持しました。
