Sadahide Utagawa
歌川貞秀
歌川貞秀 1807（文化4）年～1879（明治12）年頃
歌川貞秀は下総国（現：千葉県）東葛飾に生まれました。
本名を橋本兼次郎、号を五雲亭・玉蘭斎・玉雲斎といいます。
3代歌川豊国（歌川国貞）に師事し、幕末から明治初期に大きな足跡を残しました。
地理に強い関心を持った浮世絵師としても知られており、
日本各地の町の様子を鳥観した大作の一覧図は得意の分野で、
1868（明治元）年の絵師番付では錦絵の部で一位になる程の好評を博したとされています。
貞秀は住所や地名に至るまで細かく下絵に記載する等、
一つの事を徹底的にやり通すタイプであった為、
彫師（下絵を版木に彫る人）泣かせだったという事も伝えられています。
