Rokuro Nakamura 1914-2004
Rokuro Nakamura was born in Okayama prefecture.
Worked for a company until the end of the war.
From 1945, studied under Toyo Kaneshige.
In 1961, opened the “Rokuro Kiln”.
In 1986, certified as a traditional craftsman.
Received the Okayama Nichinichi Newspaper Award.
In 1989, received the Order of the Rising Sun, Green Paulownia Medal.
Known as a heavy drinker, the appeal of Rokuro Nakamura’s work lies in the freedom of his soul. His unpretentious personality, which knows the hearts of the drinkers, is reflected in his work, and he is a master at making sake bottles and sake cups called “Rokuro of Tokkuri.”
