The old kutani style is the style of imari ware made in hizen arita in the early Edo period.
In the 1640s and 1650s color painting techniques were introduced to imari ware made mainly of underglaze blue, and it was transformed into an old kutani style in which early imari was developed with remarkable technological innovation.
Porcelain of overglaze polychrome enamel which began with imitating chinese ceramics showed its own development in japan, a work of the tea ceremony was also made.

The old kutani style also became thin like the kakiemon style in the second half.
